Managers and Directors from Grant Thornton Argentina participated in Grant Thornton International's Emerging Leaders Programme alongside leaders from member firms across the Americas.

Grant Thornton has developed several programmes aimed to develop our adaptive, agile, collaborative and entrepreneurial culture to build trust and confidence between member firms. We strive to create a culture that welcomes a diverse range of opinions to challenge conventional thinking.

The Emerging Leaders Programme (ELP) is an annual initiative hosted regionally to strengthen cross border and cross-service collaboration. It is aimed at high-performing managers and directors, who are recognised as future leaders. The programme provides participants an opportunity to develop the knowledge, skills and confidence to maximise collaboration and impact across the region.

This year, Grant Thornton Argentina's representatives were Ariadna Umpierrez Junor (Advisory Manager), Damián Battini (BRS– Financial Services Director), Franco de Sanctis (Audit Manager), Lorena Corregidor (BPS– Business Process Solutions Manager) and Noelia Migues (Tax Manager).

Through various virtual sessions and courses, as well as a three-day in-person meeting held in Costa Rica, participants developed skills to drive international business growth, collaborate successfully in a culturally diverse environment, and identify insights they can contribute to our clients regarding regional and global trends impacting businesses. It was also an opportunity to connect with Grant Thornton International leaders and learn from their experiences.

Divided into groups, all attendees were challenged to plan and execute a team sales presentation, understanding and implementing our network's service delivery approach, guided by our CLEARR values.

Ariadna Umpierrez Junor - Advisory Manager

Photo of Ariadna Umpierrez JunorIt was an enriching experience that allowed me to learn about the work of other Grant Thornton member firms in developing service lines, particularly Advisory services. It also helped me greatly in developing my leadership skills, both for my team and with current and potential clients.

It was an experience filled with synergy among all participants from different countries. In addition to sharing coworking spaces, we were able to get to know each other and bond, strengthening ties between offices.

Damián Battini – BRS Director

Photo of Damián BattiniI'm very pleased to have participated in the meeting. It was a week where we had a great opportunity to meet colleagues from other Grant Thornton member firms across the Americas to strengthen our alliance, share experiences, and deepen the development of commercial skills.

Franco de Sanctis – Audit Manager

Photo of Franco de SanctisI really enjoyed the experience. I found it incredibly enriching. In those three days we workes as a team with managers from other service lines and countries. We also attended talks and presentations about the Grant Thornton network in the Americas, leadership, and communication techniques.

Most valuable from the programme was the communication between Grant Thornton Argentina divisions -because, in the end, we spent several days with members of the Audit, Tax, Advisory, BPS, and Banking Audit teams- and with leaders from other countries. It's great to learn and exchange methodologies, internal processes, and ways of working from other firms and departments that can enrich us.

Lorena Corregidor – BPS Manager

Photo of Lorena CorregidorThis is the first time I've travelled or participated in a programme like this at Grant Thornton, and I found it incredibly enriching, not only because of the topic, but also because of the intercultural aspects. I was able to meet managers and directors from other Grant Thornton offices and interact with them every day, both during coursework and at other times, like going out to eat. I found it really positive, including being able to connect with the other managers from Argentina and share the whole experience together. It was great.

In my case, I'm pregnant, so it was quite a challenge to make the decision. At first I was afraid, but the trip was spectacular and I felt cared for and supported by everyone.

The programme was a challenge for me because you could choose whether to do it in Spanish or English, and I chose English. So, both to communicate with the members of my group who didn't speak Spanish and to understand the instructions, I had to think in English. I found it very enriching.

The Grant Thornton International leaders who guided the course created a psychologically safe environment that allowed everyone to contribute different ideas from a place of confidence. Each group had a coach who guided us so the group wouldn't get lost or go off on tangents, and our coach's participation was very important and motivating. Without telling us what to do, he knew how to guide us. Watching him do it was very interesting.

I left with the mission of creating deeper interactions with clients, and not just offer technical support, but to look beyond superficial needs and what the client perceives as their problem; to understand them and talk to them and being available to identify their underlying needs so we can address that aspect as well.

Noelia Migues – Tax Manager

Photo of Noelia MiguesThe program was fantastic, as was the whole experience. From the professional aspect, because we engaged in activities we don't usually do. We were asigned a mock proposal negotiation, and they gave us tools to apply. It was very good practice for work. And from the social aspect, we formed a very nice group with people from different countries, and we still keep in touch and collaborate. For example, a few weeks ago, a manager from the Dominican Republic needed a contact for a specific service and posted it in the chat group so the rest of could help him.

As for the language, it was also good. On the first day, I relied on the live English-Spanish translation and interpretation system, but by the second day, I didn't need it. Also, when registering, one could choose whether to be in a Spanish, or in an English-speaking work group.

On a personal note, it was my first business trip, and I was a little apprehensive since I have two little kids and it was the first time I was going away alone for a week, but I enjoyed the experience. I don't know if there will be a second part, but in the future, I'd like to participate again, even as a coach.
