In an uncertain context, the International Monetary Fund’s World Economic Outlook reporti, published in April, forecasts that the Argentine economy will grow by 3.5% in 2026 — 1.2 percentage points above the South American average (2.3%).
Our International Business Reportii for the first quarter of 2026 revealed that 64% of mid-market business leaders in Argentina are optimistic about the next 12 months. Likewise, 6 out of 10 expect an increase in revenues, and fewer than half identify economic uncertainty as a key business constraint (39%). At the global and South American levels, 57% and 55% of leaders, respectively, view economic uncertainty as a barrier to their businesses.
“Argentina is geographically isolated from the main centres of socio-political conflict worldwide, and companies can find a horizon of certainty and security in the country’s natural resources, human capital, and opportunities for business development across diverse industries” – Fernando Fucci, Managing Partner – Grant Thornton Argentina.
For more than 15 years, Grant Thornton Argentina has been publishing the “Doing Business in Argentina” guide to provide companies seeking to establish a presence in the country with an overview of the legislation, investment environment, and the corporate, accounting, tax, and social security framework.
The 2026 edition summarises Argentina’s demographic, geo-climatic, and social characteristics, as well as its political, legal, and economic systems, its relationship with Mercosur and national treatment for foreign investors, the main national and provincial taxes, international treaties to avoid double taxation, tax incentives, and labour legislation. It also includes the structure, governance, registration, reporting, and obligations of the different business entities that may be established, along with aspects related to accounting books and records.
